What your leverage actually risks

Two numbers decide whether an account survives: how much of it a single losing trade costs, and how deep a drawdown it must climb out of. Both are arithmetic, not opinion.

Recovery is not symmetric

A 20% loss needs +25% to get back. A 50% loss needs +100%. An 80% loss needs +400%. This is why capping the downside matters more than catching the upside — and why a lead trader with a 68% max drawdown is not "aggressive", he is one repeat away from zero.
